The Death of the Mute Blond Boy (10/03/05)

The yellow halo
A fiery golden decoration
Crowning this silent blue-eyed creature

His gaze held questions, probings
The inquisitive mind of a youth
Seeking to connect himself with the infinite

The brain a bulging prison
Overflowing with the thoughts and impressions
A mouth was unable to express

The lips had only touched those of his mother
Occasionally his father’s cheek
Never felt the fleeting luxury of an amorous kiss

Never would the body know the adept grasp
Of an older experienced girl
Leading him through the inaugural spasms of intimacy

Never would he feel the secret pleasures of intoxication
The delicacy of a mid-winter snowfall
The post-adolescent struggles toward maturity

Never would the voice speak of love
In expressive and dreamy Romantic verse
That would captivate the spirit of another.

His closing was succinct
Hastened by a reckless bullet in the night
Shattering a life on a freeway in East L.A.
