Arizona Vision (June 20, 1981)

Enveloped by excruciating violet awe on this desert night
The cacti were giant candelabras on fire
Aflame from twilight’s match;
I could hear bats sing
A light breeze—silent breath of a lover
Turned over a few grains of sand
Comfort arrived as the moon strolled across the heavens
In the isolation of the dunes
Loneliness disappears
And cunningly waits for daybreak
