Minnesota-born Walter Gabrielson is an artist with a mission - - to wake you up. His images will stick in your mind like a dart that you may never be able to remove. Whether it be a cactus, a lonely railroad stop at the end of the line, homeless people or children playing with firearms, his visceral art will get under your skin.
He was the only paperboy in his hometown for five years. Went to work for the Daily Bruin when he went to UCLA, was in the service, taught printmaking at Cal State Northridge, ultimately moved to downtown L.A. where he got beat up and almost killed near his studio.
Then he had the audacity to continue to create! Thank God! Take a look at his website!
This is Playtime, a painting by Walter Gabrielson.
